Summer Proofing Your Air Conditioner
We’ve finally started to feel some warmth in Louisville and Southern Indiana, and that means it’s time to start cranking up our air conditioning units and blasting some cool air in our homes. But before you go and lower that thermostat, there’s a few things you can do before hand to ensure you have a trouble free summer, and prevent yourself from having an air conditioner on the fritz in the dead heat of summer.
- Replace The Air Filter. This step should be done once a month in the summer, to prevent dust and debris buildup, which can cause fans, coils and more to work improperly. That can lead to your entire system needing to be replaced!
- Debris Free. During the winter, your air conditioning unit may have been the victim of some branches/boxes/trash/etc that may have fallen on or beside the unit. Move everything away from it so your unit has ample airflow to prevent overheating. This includes the sides of the unit, not just the top, as ventilation on the unit occurs from all sides.
- Maintenance. The best thing you can do for your air conditioner is keep it maintained by a trained professional. Luckily, the Performance Plus Plan from A.N. Roth gives you the peace of mind or routine preventive maintenance and much more for a low price. Instead of worrying when or if your unit is going to go down during the blistering heat, have A.N. Roth be watching your unit for around the cost of a normal cleaning fee.
